Description from the seller
We are presenting at auction a true masterpiece of luxury writing and the undisputed flagship of the famous German house: the Montblanc Meisterstück 146 (LeGrand) fountain pen. This iconic instrument combines majestic stage presence with unmatched writing performance, representing the perfect union of artisanal tradition and timeless prestige.
The body and cap are masterfully crafted in Montblanc black precious resin, characterized by a deep, impeccable shine, enhanced by elegant finishes in solid yellow gold-plated metal. The aesthetic is defined by the slanted clip, the three golden bands at the base of the cap (the central one bears the clear engraving of the brand), and the distinctive decorative ring on the cap’s end. On the rounded top of the cap rises the pure white six-pointed star, universal symbol of excellence.
The heart of this extraordinary instrument is the magnificent two-tone nib in solid 14-karat (or 18-karat) gold, finely decorated with elaborate engravings that include the nib’s identification number and the maison logo. Technically, the pen features the classic efficient piston-filler system, operated by the rotating tail, which guarantees generous and smooth ink capacity.
The conservational state of this example is to be considered in excellent overall condition. The pen has been kept with extreme care: the precious resin presents brilliantly glossy, the structure is solid and free from noticeable defects, and the gold finishes retain exceptional brilliance, showing only microscopic micro-scratches and superficial signs of wear due to very careful and respectful use.
To further enhance the lot, the fountain pen is offered complete with its original Montblanc presentation box, enriched on the inside with a tailored lining to elegantly house the instrument. An extraordinary opportunity for collectors and lovers of fine handwriting.
