Description from the seller
Marc Chagall: "Fleurs sur fond rouge, 1970”. Signed on the plate.
Authorized color offset lithograph.
Condition: the work is in excellent condition.
Format: 70 x 70 cm.
Born in Vitebsk, Russia, in 1887, Chagall painted paintings with an intense light. As the son of modest Jewish parents he left his homeland after a short study at the State Academy for Arts in Saint Petersburg. He first settled in Berlin, then in the United States and finally in Paris in 1923.
He maintained a close friendship with Apollinaire. Chagall soon began to incorporate memories of his homeland – the world of Hasidism and Russian fairy tales – into his work and blend them with elements of Fauvism.
He let his subjects float in a mystic, symbolically rich realm, which had a significant influence on the German expressionists. In 1915 he married Bella, who provided the inspiration for some of his most beautiful and intimate paintings – depictions of loving couples.
The original artwork "Fleurs sur fond rouge, 1970” is painted by Marc Chagall in 1970, when he was 83 years old.
The painting shows a colorful bouquet of flowers in a glass vase against a striking red background.
The work contains typical Chagall motifs and is an example of his lifelong fascination with flowers as a pictorial element.
Never been framed and is kept in a dark archival storage between protective acid-free paper.
The shown photos are part of the description.
