Jacques Villon [Gaston Duchamp] (1875-1963) - Les dieux de l'Olympe

Color lithograph "The Gods of Olympus" by Jacques Villon.

Hand-signed by the artist.

Japan paper, 38 x 56.5 cm.
The lithograph is part of the "Les Bucoliques" (Suite) series, printed in 1953 at the Mourlot studio.
Reference: Ginestet & Poullon E 563.

Solid wood frame and glass (mounted on a passe-partout): 71.5 x 49 cm.

In perfect condition.

A magnificent work by Duchamp's brother, in keeping with the Cubist abstraction he himself adopted (with an inspiration for space in planes of color). While it retains Impressionist reminiscences from his early period, Villon's greatest achievement as a printmaker was the creation of a purely graphic language for Cubism.

Extraordinary.
