Description
A powerful color lithograph by Karel Appel, co-founder of CoBrA and one of the most important Dutch artists of the 20th century. Enfant shows everything Appel is known for. A child-like figure is built up from thick black outlines and fields in red, yellow, blue, green and purple. That is exactly the spontaneous, unpolished visual language that CoBrA borrowed from children’s drawings.
The lithograph dates from 1969 and appeared in a small edition of only 75 copies. Appel has signed, dated and numbered this copy by hand. With an image height of more than 60 cm, it is a real eye-catcher on the wall.
The work is sold unframed, so you can have it framed to your taste.
Condition
The paper is lightly discolored, which is in line with its age. There are no other visible defects. The photos are part of the description.
