Fernandez Arman created a steel sculpture titled Venus de Milo in 2001, signed by hand and issued as the second of ten artist’s proofs (EA) with dimensions 52 cm high, 20 cm wide, and 15 cm deep, weighing 7 kg, in good condition and sold by a private owner or dealer.
Description from the seller
Magnificent and elaborate work by Fernandez Arman, entirely made in steel in 2001.
It is the Venus de Milo revisited and interpreted by the artist in absolutely masterful fashion.
The play of solids and voids in the three different profiles of Venus makes the sculpture dynamic, removing its static nature and also giving it a certain visual lightness.
The specimen in question is the second of the ten artist's proofs (EA - épreuve d'artiste) that the master produced before proceeding with another 80 pieces with Arabic numbering.
The sculpture is signed and hand-edited through an engraving on the plaque attached to the base.
Furthermore, this specimen is also signed with a marker in a corner of the same base.
The work is catalogued in the archive of Mrs. Denyse Durand-Ruel with the number 6796 and is registered in the archive of the Arman Studio of New York with the number A.P.A# 8401.01.024.
Literature:
M. Moreau and D. Durand-Ruel, Arman. Catalogue Raisonné des Multiples III, Paris 2014.
