Beatles - Let It Be (UK) – Complete 1st Pressing Box Set – 2U/2U – Red Apple - LP box set - 1st Stereo pressing - 1970

A highly desirable and complete original 1970 UK first pressing box set of Let It Be, retaining the original presentation in which the album was first released in Britain.

Rather than being issued simply as a conventional LP, the earliest UK copies of Let It Be were presented in this elaborate black box set, containing the LP together with the large-format Get Back book and the original internal cardboard tray construction.

This example retains all of those essential components.

The LP itself is the original UK first pressing with the important:

YEX 773-2U / YEX 774-2U

matrix combination.

These are the earliest UK matrices for the album and are paired here with the correct first-issue dark green Apple labels.

Equally important is the original fully laminated LP sleeve with the distinctive red Apple logo on the rear. This red Apple sleeve was used for the original box-set issue and was subsequently replaced by the much more commonly encountered green Apple version.

The lavish Get Back book forms an essential part of the original presentation and contains extensive photographs from the sessions by Ethan A. Russell together with accompanying text. Complete original books are increasingly difficult to find because the binding was relatively fragile and many surviving examples have suffered from loose pages or separation over the years.

Side 1 is particularly attractive from a manufacturing perspective, having been pressed from the first mother.

Vinyl: EX

A very attractive example retaining an excellent deep gloss.

The record presents remarkably well, with only light evidence of previous handling and play. Overall a particularly strong copy of the original 2U/2U pressing.

The dark green Apple labels also remain clean and attractive.

LP Sleeve: VG+

The original fully laminated first-issue sleeve remains in very presentable condition.

Most importantly, the rear carries the distinctive red Apple logo, one of the defining features of the original UK box-set pressing.

There is some normal age-related wear, but the laminate retains a good sheen and the sleeve remains structurally strong.

Get Back Book: VG+

The original book remains present and in tidy condition.

Considering how vulnerable these books are to loose pages and binding damage, this is a very respectable surviving example.

The original black presentation box shows visible age-related storage wear, entirely consistent with a surviving 1970 box set.

There is general rubbing and handling wear, but the box remains complete and continues to present the set correctly.

The original internal cardboard tray is still present — an important detail, as these fragile components were frequently damaged, discarded or replaced over the years.
