Beatles, Abbey Road (UK) – 1st pressing (1969), Apple PCS 7088, dark green Apple labels, misaligned Apple sleeve variant with Her Majesty omitted on Side 2, original inner sleeve, vinyl EX, sleeve VG+.
Description from the seller
A very attractive original 1969 UK first pressing of Abbey Road, combining three of the key characteristics collectors actively seek on the earliest British issue: the YEX 749-2 / YEX 750-1 matrix combination, the famous misaligned Apple sleeve, and the original omission of "Her Majesty" from the Side 2 label. Released in September 1969 on the dark green Apple label, the first UK pressing employed the -2/-1 matrix pairing found on this copy. The Side 2 label does not list "Her Majesty," reflecting the album's original artwork and label preparation before the short hidden track was formally added to the printed track listing. The sleeve is the highly desirable misaligned Apple variation, where the green Apple logo on the rear is positioned noticeably lower beneath the track listing—a sleeve variation firmly associated with the original first-pressing production run of the album.
⸻
Sleeve (VG+):
The original fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve remains structurally strong and visually attractive, showing only light creasing and modest ringwear consistent with careful handling. The sought-after misaligned Apple is clearly visible on the rear. Overall a strong VG+ example.
Inner Sleeve:
Original period Patent No. inner sleeve included.
Labels:
The dark green Apple labels remain clean and well preserved, with the important absence of "Her Majesty" on Side 2 and good spindle wear consistent with careful use.
Vinyl (EX):
A beautiful copy with deep gloss throughout. Only very light evidence of previous play is visible, with minor superficial hairlines and playwear but nothing heavy or distracting. Playback is strong and clean overall, grading EX.
