Description from the seller

#collectorscorner

Unique work, directly from the artist's studio.
Dimensions 40x40 cm thickness 2 cm, made on pure cotton canvas, no frame.
Artwork accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity personally signed by the artist, with central peg, final protective varnish, ready to be hung.

Massimo Riccò was born in Modena in 1961, where he currently lives and works. Towards the end of the 1990s, he entered the art world, drawing with pencils, charcoals and sanguine than quickly shifted to color through oil and acrylic techniques.
After an initial impressionist landscape approach, predominantly figurative in character, over the years a constant evolution has solidified, toward breaking the form, entrusting color with the task of giving the work strength and dynamism.
A constant search for subjects of various kinds in terms of composition, and the study of different materials to be able to render the artistic language effectively.
For years he has been involved, in addition to artistic production, in teaching painting, seeking to stimulate creativity and personal interpretation, a challenge constantly proposed, in harmony with what is his vision of art.
In addition to countless exhibitions, shows and recognitions, he can boast a high number of national prizes.

Some of the numerous critical texts by art experts:

Measure and proportion mark Riccò’s works, which, never betraying his careful study of compositional rhythms, allow the eye of the viewer color intervals of intense emotional impact. The potential of the chromatic tones, of which the artist shows absolute knowledge, choreograph a rhythm that alternates balance and contrast, sharing the very nature of light, static and vibrant at one and the same time …
The viewer thus becomes a witness to a process, to an alchemy, that transforms the reality of which the works bear traces, now more, now less generous, into abstract fields of color.
The passion of the moment, of that encounter between heart and reality, is generously revealed by an artist who does not spare his observer from what happened: Massimo Riccò’s poetics reveals the maturity and awareness of one who has something to tell and cannot help but trust the canvas.
(Margherita Fraccon – Museum educator, expert in contemporary art)

Between nature and imagination, reality and abstraction of the real, flows the splendid painting of Massimo Riccò. Sensations frozen in their evocative moment and precious moments merge in color and light in a painting tied to expressionist art in its emotional vigor, where pathos flows in chromaticism progressing toward immediate painting gesture … (Carla d’Aquino Mineo)

Riccò injects into his works a color capable of embracing minimal variations, difficult pairings. This proves that he has achieved, over his artistic career, mastery and confidence in his expressive means.
The exquisite sensitivity of Riccò is revealed by the very themes that the Artist favors, making them participants in a reality where there are always qualities and intonation, and this to prove that from the beginning there is sobriety and seriousness of intent, the final goal…

We can still talk about fantastic visions, or at times of the day what surrounds man is truly fantastic as in the Maestro Riccò’s paintings?
The answer lies in originality and the leap in quality that earns the Artist attention precisely for the ability to exalt the soul that lies beyond the appearance of things

Riccò loves painting and paints with great passion, therefore he tells what his eyes see and what his poetic nature suggests.
He paints canvases that are admired with great pleasure, because the taste for beauty, the confidence in balancing lights and shadows, which are nothing more than “emotions” of the moment, expressed with a strong personal character, as effective as it is, combined with his generous spirit, not detached from exuberant imagination, but contained within the boundaries of good taste.
You will hear people talk about him.
(the critics of the MC art studio – Livio Collina Foundation)

Massimo Riccò’s painting emerges as a light harmony that gradually approaches from its shades to more substantial elements, appearing closer to us and initially confusing the viewer. Thus the image, at the immediate, almost abstract reading, gains figurative substance, becoming more and more developed, giving the depicted image all its pictorial reality.
Two realities overlap without eliminating each other, blending into a graphic and chromatic symbiosis. From strong foreground colors, we gradually move to a well-defined figurative reality, the soul of the image and rich in sweetness. Faded subjects, but very precise, seemingly vague but constructive, indispensable to the balance of the canvas.
Beautiful glimpses appear as if from a still uncertain ether, but one that slowly builds with force and confidence.
The chroma is strong and well distributed. Lights and shadow areas create volumes and distances, harmonized by perspective. The buildings depicted are from different periods and the landscapes express vast areas. All emerges from a pale chromatic fog, which builds an immense breath … (Enrico Miglioli)
Mastering the means of painting, its techniques, its seductions, and then mixing everything again in an extremely original and suggestive vision.
Massimo Riccò still manages to surprise with a figurative timbre that already seemed to have said everything, seemed to have expressed everything, except this delicate painting, which challenges vision in diversified and superimposed planes, in strokes of color masterfully targeted… (Silvia Arfelli)
