Born in 1958 in Bến Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a very young age, he has been fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — elements that will form the basis of his visual language.
Having always been settled in his native region, Nguyen Robert develops, over the decades, a deeply contemporary, modern, and decisively architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while retaining a poetic sensibility inherent to Vietnamese culture.
His dual Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul imbues softness, spirituality, and fluidity in his works.
