Description from the seller
Set of 2 major technical books on medieval arms and armors for specialists
Oakeshott & Ian Eaves
A set of two essential and highly sought-after reference works on medieval weaponry and European armour, ideal for collectors, scholars, and arms enthusiasts:
1. Records of the Medieval Sword
Author: Ewart Oakeshott
Edition: 2009 Reprint (Boydell Press)
Binding: Softcover
305 pages extensively illustrated, 27cm x 22cm
Condition: Good condition (light shelf wear, solid binding, clean pages)
Topic: The definitive study and typology of medieval swords by the world's foremost authority. Richly illustrated with detailed photography and drawings categorizing swords from the early Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Follows its earlier The The Archéology of weapons, and goes deeper than The Sword in the age of Chivalry
2. Catalogue of European Armour at the Fitzwilliam Museum
Author: Ian Eaves
Edition: First and Only Edition, 2002 (Boydell Press)
Binding: Hardcover with original dust jacket
Condition: Very Good condition, 18cm x 25cm
Topic: A very rare, highly detailed technical catalogue documenting the prestigious European armour collection at the Fitzwilliam Museum. Includes exhaustive scholarly descriptions and photographs by the former Keeper of Armour at the Royal Armouries.
Contains plates of illustrations (not that great pictures imo) but the text is one of the most minute on every aspect of each piece or Armour, 255 pages including the often missed errata sheet on the plates captions.
2 nice books for arms and armour students or connaisseurs. Not as introduction, but more for experts.
