This instrument preserves a piece of the musical history of (León) Spain. This guitar was built in the mid-1980s or 1990s. It carries the original label of Casa San José, founded at the end of the 1950s on the emblematic street del Pozo No. 2. It was the city’s first shop specializing in music, a historic meeting point for musicians and students who ordered high-quality instruments from prestigious luthiers.

Although it bears the label of the distributing shop, it is actually a handcrafted work built by the excellent luthier Rafael Molina Mervi (Valencia). This luthier is very renowned for his great-quality guitars. He has also worked with very renowned luthiers, such as Ricardo Sanchis, Vicente Sanchis, Hermanos Tatay, Vitato and many other famous luthiers.
What gives it a historical and acoustic value far superior to that of a mass-produced guitar.

Guitar materials:

Rims and back: Rosewood, with a clean figured grain and stunning inlays that ensure a deep bass projection and prolonged sustain.
Top: Sitka spruce with fine grain and high acoustic response.
• Fretboard: Dense and hard ebony, which guarantees maximum resistance to wear and a very agile feel.

Instrument condition:

It is in very good aesthetic and functional condition. The wood remains in perfect structural condition, showing typical signs of use due to its age and some superficial scratches in the varnish inherent to the passage of time.
At the top right of the soundboard there is a small varnish defect that is purely aesthetic and in no way affects the wood’s structure or its sound quality. Straight neck, very firm frame and comfortable action along the entire fretboard.
And a very bright and versatile sound.
