The Clash – London Calling (Europe) – 1979 1st Pressing – CBS 88478, a double LP released in the Netherlands, with VG+ vinyl and a VG sleeve, includes the original inner sleeve.
Description from the seller
A very attractive original 1979 European first pressing of The Clash's legendary London Calling, issued as a double LP on CBS with catalogue number 88478.
Few albums capture the moment punk exploded beyond its original boundaries quite like London Calling. Across four sides, The Clash move effortlessly between punk, reggae, rockabilly, ska, soul and straight-ahead rock, creating one of the most influential records of the late 1970s. The album includes some of the defining tracks of The Clash's career: London Calling, Brand New Cadillac, Spanish Bombs, Clampdown, The Guns of Brixton, Death or Glory and the famous unlisted closing track Train in Vain.
This original European issue carries the classic CBS 88478 catalogue number, representing a key early pressing from the album's initial release.
⸻
Sleeve (VG):
The iconic original sleeve remains structurally sound, but shows more noticeable age-related wear consistent with nearly forty-five years of use. Visible corner and edge wear is present throughout, together with some general handling marks and whitening along parts of the edges. The upper-left corner shows a small area of residue and surface disturbance from an old sticker removal. There is also some visible discolouration to parts of the pink lettering on the front, together with light whitening in the printed areas. Despite these cosmetic signs of age, the sleeve remains complete and the famous Pennie Smith artwork still displays well, grading a solid VG overall.
Inner Sleeve:
Original inner sleeve included.
Vinyl (VG+):
Both records retain a very attractive original gloss. There are some fine hairlines, light playwear and small signs of previous use across both discs, but nothing heavy or seriously distracting. The surfaces remain clean overall and both records present as solid VG+ examples with strong playback throughout.
