Dimensions of the work: 30 × 22 cm
Framed dimensions: 47 × 37 cm (red-brown lacquered wood frame, crème mat, museum presentation)
Description of the work
This original unique painting is a powerful and provocative masterpiece by Zush.
Fuckface unfolds a surreal anthropomorphic face in warm yellow-orange hues. The biomorphic elements are exceptionally striking: the eyes are depicted as breasts, the nose as a phallus, the sensually red mouth.
The whole is accentuated by metallic relief outlines that give the piece a true sculptural and tactile dimension.
At the top, a small fabric and paint mask, with expressive features and black tears, is glued in three dimensions, reinforcing the totemic and living character of the work. The reliefs, cabochons, visible seams, and metal inlays transform this painting into a hybrid painting-sculpture, sensual and hypnotic.
Rarity
This is an original unique painting, fully worked on and hand-enhanced by the artist with multiple three-dimensional relief elements. This type of mixed piece, both painted and sculptural, is particularly rare in Zush’s output and testifies to his most inventive and personal practice.
The artist: Zush
Zush (Alberto Porta y Muñoz, born 1946) is one of the most original and visionary Spanish artists of his generation.
From the 1960s, he developed a radically personal plastic universe, populated by hybrid faces, sexual symbols, and a very powerful intimate mythology. His work, between outsider art, surrealism, and psychedelia, is characterized by its erotic intensity, symbolic charge, and a total refusal of artistic conventions.
Eveugo Mental State
On the verso is the red stamp “MENTAL ESTATE EVRUGO.” This is the artist’s personal seal that authenticates the work as belonging fully to his mental universe. “Eveugo” (or Evrugo) denotes the altered state of consciousness and the parallel world Zush built throughout his career. This stamp gives Fuckface an almost sacred dimension: it is not merely a painting, but a living fragment of the Eveugo Mental State, his intimate and infinite territory.
Provenance: Galerie Camille von Scholz – Editions Camomille, Brussels (original label on the back) + artist’s Mental Estate Evrugo stamp.
