The works of the painting cycle “Donna” are a scenographic and symbolic representation of the woman, seen both through the eyes of an artist and through those of a man.
With these paintings we want to depict the woman beyond society's stereotypes: her essence, her humanity, her fragility, and at the same time her strength.
The choice of color, in its monochromatic, slightly sepia-toned nature, aims to convey a sense of mystery, of lived experience and/or memory.
The veil that surrounds the woman has multiple meanings: the part that gently wraps her body is pink, almost blending with her own skin; while the remaining part of it aims to represent, through its tension, the influence of the social stereotype of a strong, emancipated, beautiful and slender woman.
The title of the work is intended to help understanding the work itself by using adjectives or nouns related to its intention to humanize it and to grasp its essence.
