Description from the seller
This Art Deco collectors piece is designed as a desktop humidor cabinet featuring an automatic stepped tier opening mechanism , complete with an integrated clock on the front panel . The case is crafted from burr wood veneer and contrasting wood species with geometric architectural lines characteristic of the nineteen thirties style , decorated on the sides with molded wooden cylinder shapes evoking small columns or tobacco rolls . The main facade displays a fine marquetry inlay depicting a stylized silhouette of Diana the Huntress kneeling with her bow and her running greyhound . The circular clock face features the Ancre brand mark in the center of a light dial with a gold border protected by a domed black bezel . The front door panel drops down to operate an internal mechanism that automatically raises and unfolds three tiered grooved trays made of natural cedar wood , specifically designed for the storage and preservation of cigars . The object measures 17 cm in height , 10 cm in depth and 34 cm in length for a total weight of 1700 g . The clock face bears the clear inscription Ancre while no other cabinet making signatures or marks are visible on the wooden structure . The general condition of the box is good and structurally sound , despite some specific veneer losses located mainly on the upper part of the blackened wood base as well as light minor wear consistent with age . The mechanical clockwork movement is complete but needs to be serviced by a professional , as the mechanism was intentionally not forced or operated during preparation for the auction .
