Description from the seller
A0000005493
WATERMAN CENTURION LACA HAVANA (WITH 18K GOLD NIB): Magnificent Waterman fountain pen manufactured in France in the 1990s. This model, recognizable by its slender tubular profile and its emblematic clip with a central groove, is presented in one of its most beautiful versions: the Havana finish or tortoiseshell lacquering.
The rarity of this piece lies in its nib. Unlike the standard Centurion line catalog, which used steel nibs, this unit is equipped with a superb original Waterman 18-karat gold nib (750) in two-tone finish. This upgrade (possibly a boutique upgrade from the period or a customization by a previous collector) exponentially enhances the writing experience and the intrinsic value of the pen.
Condition (Expert Review)
Original fountain pen in excellent aesthetic and mechanical condition:
Lacquer: The lacquered surface maintains a deep glassy shine and a mirror polish. It shows no dents in the base metal, chipping, or perceptible scratches.
Metal components: The clip and rings retain their gold plating in optimal condition, with no material loss (brassing) or oxidation. The cap band clearly shows the engraving "WATERMAN - MADE IN FRANCE".
Resins: The flat finishes and the black grip section are clean and in perfect condition. The nib section preserves the subtle assembly code "D22".
Mechanics and nib: The snap-on cap closure operates firmly. The 18K gold nib is impeccable: the tines are symmetrically aligned and the iridium point is complete, guaranteeing high-quality writing.
(See the photographs in detail to assess the excellent condition and the uniqueness of the 18-karat nib).
Shipping
The fountain pen will be carefully protected and packaged, ensuring its arrival in perfect condition.
Happy bidding!
