Description from the seller
A highly desirable 1997 UK EMI Centenary Edition of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, pressed on heavyweight 180-gram virgin vinyl as part of EMI's prestigious 100th Anniversary Vinyl Collection. This is not an ordinary later reissue. In 1997, EMI celebrated its centenary by selecting a limited number of landmark albums for a special audiophile vinyl series. These editions were produced with heavy-quality sleeves, virgin vinyl pressings and Direct Metal Mastering, aimed specifically at listeners who wanted a premium analogue presentation. The Dark Side of the Moon was naturally selected as one of the flagship titles. The official EMI 100 issue was released on 14 February 1997 and was manufactured on 180g virgin vinyl with a heavy-quality gatefold sleeve. The original EMI 100 sticker specifically advertised "Direct Metal Mastering – Virgin Vinyl Pressings – Heavy Quality Sleeves." This edition is particularly appreciated for its powerful, detailed presentation and heavyweight pressing quality, making it one of the more interesting modern analogue editions of the album.
⸻
Sleeve (VG+):
The heavyweight gatefold sleeve remains very solid and attractive. There is some light corner wear and minor evidence of careful handling, but no major structural damage. The artwork remains clean and vibrant and the overall presentation is a strong VG+.
Vinyl (VG+):
The vinyl retains a beautiful deep gloss with only a small amount of light playwear and several very fine superficial hairlines visible under strong light. There are no deep or distracting marks. Visually this sits very close to EX, but has been conservatively graded VG+. Playback remains excellent and this is a wonderful copy for actually enjoying the album's famous production and dynamics.
