Beatles – A Hard Day’s Night, UK first mono pressing from 1964 on Parlophone PMC 1230, with the early “chubby print” black‑and‑yellow label and original inner sleeve, includes a flipback sleeve; vinyl VG (visual) / VG+ (audio), sleeve VG+.
Description from the seller
A highly collectible original 1964 UK first mono pressing of A Hard Day's Night, featuring the classic XEX 481-3N / XEX 482-3N matrices and the desirable early "chubby print" Parlophone label variation. Released on 10 July 1964, A Hard Day's Night was the first Beatles album to consist entirely of Lennon–McCartney compositions and remains one of the defining records of the original Beatlemania period. This copy carries the original black-and-yellow Parlophone labels with "THE PARLOPHONE CO. LTD." perimeter text, "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964" and the contemporary "SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS" statement. The label typography is the sought-after "chubby print" variation, recognisable by its heavier, broader and more rounded lettering compared with the later slender-print layouts. This is one of the documented label configurations used during the album's original first-pressing production.
⸻
Sleeve (VG+):
The original laminated flipback sleeve remains a very presentable example. The front retains good overall appearance with some light creasing and normal age-related handling. The rear shows some yellowing together with a small amount of writing and light general ageing, but the sleeve remains structurally solid and displays well → VG+
Vinyl (VG):
The record retains a good original shine but clearly shows evidence of previous play. There are multiple superficial hairlines and light playwear across both sides, together with some grey sheen that is slightly more noticeable on Side 2. Importantly, there are no deep or feelable scratches. Visually grading VG, playback is noticeably stronger and the record plays very nicely overall, delivering solid audio performance around VG+ → VG (visual) / VG+ (audio)
Inner Sleeve:
Original inner sleeve included.
