A Japanese hand-woven bamboo flower basket (hanakago) with a glossy dark brown finish. The cylindrical body is worked in a tight herringbone weave. The rim is finished with a neatly wrapped edge, and the base has a raised, layered band. Two woven ring handles are attached to the sides. A bamboo tube liner sits inside to hold water for fresh flower arrangements. The piece suits ikebana, tokonoma display or general interior decoration.
