Description from the seller
Francioni & Mastromarino – “We Should All Be Feminists”
Original sculpture in geomalta, acrylic and rice husk
Throughout their career, Francioni Mastromarino have participated in prestigious international exhibitions, including:
“Motions of the Soul” in Pontedera
“Looking for Monnalisa,” where they presented a monumental sculpture: the world’s largest portrait of Leonardo da Vinci – over 5 meters tall and a diameter of about 4 meters – today acquired by Pavia and officially recognized as a city monument.
The sculpture We Should All Be Feminists presented in this lot is the declaration of Francioni Mastromarino’s artistic research. The carved face, with elegant and modern features, blends harmoniously with a hairstyle that evokes the greatness of classical eras. Among the hair, a stylized vagina reveals itself as a symbolic diadem, highlighting the generative and spiritual power of the feminine. A distinctive element of their poetics, which fuses aesthetics and message with refined audacity.
A Title that is a Manifesto
We Should All Be Feminists is an invitation, a statement, a warning. In a context still permeated by patriarchal archetypes, the work becomes a tool for reflection on the strength, courage, and complexity of feminine identity.
Thus the sculpture becomes a symbol of a new matriarchy: evolved, aware, powerful.
Woman, life, freedom. Francioni Mastromarino’s Venuses are rebellious poets, poets of transgression!
