About the artist:

Victor Vasarely: (1906-1997) French painter of Hungarian origin, regarded as the father of optical art, i.e. op art. His works are in the world’s leading museums, including: Hara Museum of Contemporary Art (Japan); Fondation Vasarely, Centre Pompidou (France); Walker Art Center, MOMA, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim, New York (USA); Das Museum Folkwang (Germany); Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Portugal); Kröller-Müller Museum (Netherlands); Queensland Art Gallery (Australia); Nykytaiteen museo Kiasma (Finland); Horsens Kunstmuseum (Denmark); Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Italy); National Gallery of Scotland, Tate Collection (Great Britain); Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein (Liechtenstein); Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Argentina); Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje (FYROM); Henie Onstad Museum (Norway); Victor Vasarely Museum, Pécs (Hungary); Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Caracas (Venezuela); Musée des Beaux-Arts, Montréal (Canada)...

About the work:

Victor Vasarely’s perfectionism imposes on him an absolute quality that, at that time, only the capabilities of Basel printers could ensure. Between 1971 and 1978, Editions du Griffon in Neuchâtel, Switzerland entrusted Victor Vasarely with the realization, distribution, and promotion of 19 albums and 12 screen prints, collecting a survey of his oeuvre.
This unique edition stems from a special series titled "Ondulatoires," which Vasarely himself designed and supervised, and with the same care for quality, Editions du Griffon devoted exceptional detail to these 70s-era album series, identifiable by copyright notice on the back of the prints.
