Parker Duofold AF fountain pen with a 14K gold nib by Newhaven, made in England, in black plastic with gilt detailing, featuring an ink sac and a non‑functional pump system now used via the sac vacuum method.
Description from the seller
Parker Duofold AF
Nib: Newhaven (N), 14K gold nib. Writes as Medium.
Pen was produced between 1946 and the end of the 1950s.
The pen is in good overall condition, writes nicely still, no leaks. The pen has been well cared for over the years.
The black resin body still has a deep, uniform shine. A few light micro-scratches are visible, which is in keeping with the age and use of the pen. There are no cracks, splits, or deformations. The inscriptions on the body, "Parker Duofold – Made in England", are still readable.
The cap, also in very good condition, has the characteristic classic Parker clip in the arrow shape that is still sturdy and properly aligned. The decorative ring contains the three-point engraving characteristic of this Duofold.
The nib, also called the nib, is 14-karat gold (14K) and is in excellent condition, with no deformations or visible damage. The engraving on the point is still fully readable. The nib is well aligned and writes smoothly.
The pen is equipped with an ink sac for the ink to be used. See the last photo. Originally the pen had a pump-fiston system by which ink could be drawn up. That system no longer works. Instead, ink is easily drawn into the pen by pressing the ink sac and the resulting vacuum effect. This is the same mechanism the original pump system used.
Overall, it is a pen that has been well preserved, with moderate signs of use appropriate for its age. The elegance and original functionality have remained intact.
The use of high-quality, specific fountain-pen ink is recommended, preferably avoiding pigment inks or inks with high density. If it has not been used for a long time, the system should be rinsed with lukewarm water, dried completely before storage, and kept in a dry place, out of direct light and away from extreme temperatures. Always activate the reloading mechanism gently to protect the internal mechanics.
Will be shipped in a Parker-branded box, and of course in a suitable mailing carton.
