Adalberto Campagnoli, Cervia, oil on canvas landscape, 88 × 68 cm, about 5 kg, original edition, Italy, signed by hand and sold with frame, dating to the 1960s–1970s.
Description from the seller
Description
Painting depicting an Italian urban view, with a street animated by a horse-drawn carriage and some figures, surrounded by buildings with light façades and the characteristic red roofs. The scene is enriched by the presence of trees and vegetation and by the Italian flag, while on a building the historic sign “Cinzano” is recognizable.
The composition is characterized by bright and lively colors, by a synthetic brushwork and by a construction of the scene that highlights the artist's interest in the immediate and recognizable representation of places. The setting also presents a graphic and illustrative component coherent with the production of Adalberto Campagnoli, a painter and poster designer active in Turin in the 20th century.
The painting is signed at the bottom left and on the back features a tag addressed to “Adalberto Campagnoli,” with handwritten indication of the title, apparently Cervia, the measurements and other data relating to the work. The presence of the tag constitutes an important documentary element supporting attribution.
