Pierre Debatty (Uccle, 1966) is a Belgian painter who studied at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Charleroi and later studied painting at La Cambre in Brussels, where he graduated in 1990 and worked as an assistant until 1994. He has been exhibiting since 1988 in Belgium and internationally. According to his artist archive, his work is held in public collections in Wallonia and Brussels and in museum collections in La Louvière, Charleroi, Ixelles, and Louvain-la-Neuve.
Debatty has received, among others, the Talens and Unisys prizes in 1988, the Prix des Arts du Trait from the Académie Royale de Belgique in 1994, and the Prix de la Province de Liège in 1997. His painting moves between abstraction and landscape, with light, space, geological structures, and landscape traces recurring fundamental themes. In addition to his artistic practice, he taught painting at art academies in Charleroi and Namur.
