Description from the seller
Pair of Surprise Cigarette Dispenser Dispensers in the Shape of a Seltzer Siphon - Brass and Enamel - Vintage 1960s
DESCRIPTION:
a fun and scenographic pair of vintage cigarette dispensers shaped like a seltzer/seltzer siphon.
It is the classic mid-century living room object, a surprise gadget very popular in the 60s/70s as a souvenir from the Middle East.
How it works:
When closed it looks like a decorative siphon bottle. Lifting the spout head opens it in bloom revealing at the base an ashtray and a crown of metal tweezers to offer cigarettes to guests (see photo).
Lot details (2 pieces):
1. Silver Model: in silvered metal with embossed leaf decor. Brunt finish.
2. Enamel Model: in gilded brass with cloisonné blue, light blue and gold enamel decoration, geometric Islamic/Moorish motif.
Period: 1960-1970
Origin: Tourist souvenir, probable Egyptian/Indian manufacture
Material: Brass, silvered metal, hand-painted enamel.
Dimensions: Closed height approx. 20 cm - base diameter approx. 7 cm
Total weight: approx. 600-700 g for the pair.
Condition:
Vintage good condition. Opening mechanism functioning. Wear consistent with age: light oxidations on brass and micro-scratches on the blue enamel of the enamel model, visible in the photo. Not cleaned thoroughly to leave patina for the future buyer's choice.
Sold as shown in the photo, with decorative cigarettes not included in the final sale (for demonstration only).
A striking decorative piece, ideal for tobaccanalia collectors, kitsch decor, or vintage bar cabinet setups.
Tracked shipping and well packaged.
