The Gates was a large, temporary art project by the artistic duo Christo and Jeanne-Claude in New York's Central Park. It consisted of 7,503 orange-yellow gates along the footpaths and was on view from February 12 to 27, 2005.

Length of walkways: 37 kilometers (23 miles)
Dimensions of the gates: 4.87 meters high with a variable width of 1.68 to 5.48 meters
Color and material: densely saffron-patterned, freely hanging nylon fabric panels
The project lasted exactly 16 days in February 2005 - over four million people visited the temporary artwork in the Park.
