DESCRIPTION:
Magnificent photograph by Manfred Linus Kreiner in Washington, D.C., on January 20, 1961, during John F. Kennedy’s inauguration as the 35th President of the United States.
The image captures Robert Fitzgerald Kennedy, the new president’s brother, as he leaves the presidential podium after the ceremony and salutes the crowd with a gesture. Among the personalities gathered for this historic day, he appears here in a moment of spontaneity and proximity to the public, while the crowd forms in the background.
