Description from the seller
The painting depicted in the images is a work by the Italian expressionist/Informal painter Gustavo Boldrini (1927–1987).
Title "houses" realized in 1962
Signed on the back with a dedication.
Autograph dedication (in graphite): "To my friend [...] with sympathy, Boldrini, 1962".
Artistic contextualization and its link to Milan.
Gustavo Boldrini is known for his urban glimpses and the series dedicated to the "Houses" (including those from Milan, Venice, and Paris), carried out with dramatic tones, richly chromatic, and structured with strong vertical black lines that recall city architecture.
During his career he exhibited at important Italian institutions and at Italian biennials. The theme of the "Houses" and his expressive investigations of the 1960s fully belong to the Milanese cultural and collecting climate of the era (such as the well-known Collezione Boschi Di Stefano and other civic and private collections devoted to the Twentieth Century and to Informal Art).
