Description from the seller

Collection of 5 Vintage Fountain Pens – Luxor, Böhler, Artus, Osmia & Tommy – 14K Gold Nibs – c. 1930–1950

Description

Collection of five vintage European fountain pens, dating approximately from the first half to the middle of the 20th century.

The lot consists of:

• Osmia fountain pen – black body with gold-coloured trim. The nib is marked 14 carat. The nib tip is damaged/broken and the filling mechanism is not working.
• Böhler fountain pen – attractive green/grey marbled body. Fitted with a 14 carat gold nib. Filling mechanism is not working, but the pen can be used as a dip pen.
• Luxor fountain pen – striking golden/brown marbled body with Luxor marked clip. Fitted with a 14 carat gold nib. Filling mechanism is not working, but the nib writes when dipped in ink.
• “Tommy” fountain pen – golden marbled body, marked “Tommy” on the barrel. Fitted with a nib marked 14 carat. Filling mechanism is not working, but the nib can be used for dip writing.
• Auctus fountain pen – burgundy coloured body with gold-coloured trim. Filling mechanism is not working, but the pen can be used for dip writing. The nib material has not been independently verified.

The pens show age-related wear, scratches, discolouration and patina consistent with vintage use. They are offered as found and unrestored. None of the filling mechanisms have been restored or serviced.

Four of the pens have nibs marked as 14 carat / 585 gold. This description refers specifically to the nibs and not to the complete pens.

Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.

A good restoration lot for collectors of vintage German and European fountain pens.

All pens are sold unrestored and as found. They have not been professionally serviced. Expect age-related wear, scratches, oxidation/discolouration of the metal fittings and signs of use. Filling sacs, pistons or internal seals may require replacement. Please study the detailed photographs carefully, particularly the nibs and filling mechanisms.

A good lot for a fountain-pen collector, restorer or enthusiast, combining several recognised vintage European manufacturers in one collection.

The vintage glass ink pot shown in the photographs is included in the lot.
