Original polychrome Japanese woodblock print on washi paper from the late Edo period, published between 1858 and 1859, part of the Kannon Reigenki series with Utagawa Kunisada for the figures and Utagawa Hiroshige II for the landscape, with text by Mantei Oga, sheet original and not backing, front intact with minor wear at the lower right corner touching the colour, verso with central thinning from removal from an old album, measures about 35 x 23 cm, signed on the block, made in 1859, provenance private collection, sold by owner or dealer.
Description from the seller
Original multicolored Japanese woodblock print on washi paper, late Edo period, published between 1858 and 1859. The work belongs to the Kannon Reigenki series, created by Utagawa Kunisada for the figures and Utagawa Hiroshige II for the landscape, with texts by Mantei Oga.
Conditions: unmounted original sheet, with natural ink bleed-through to the reverse. The front is intact, free of tears and with pigments well preserved, but with wear on the lower right corner that touches the color. The back shows a central area with superficial thinning of the paper due to detachment from an old album/collection. Margins cropped in period as was customary. Dimensions approximately 35 x 23 cm
