1. Luis Gordillo (Seville, 1934) is a central figure and undoubted renovator of Spanish contemporary art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
2. He forged his language amid Parisian informalism, Jean Dubuffet's art brut, and the pioneering impact of pop art and Francis Bacon.
3. His visual universe masterfully integrates psychoanalysis and psychic introspection with bold chromatic exploration.
4. Considered the great mentor and precursor of the "new Madrid figuration", he revolutionized the scene against post-informalism.
5. He projected international prestige as Spain's representative at the emblematic Venice Biennale in two editions (1970 and 1976).
6. Consecrated in 1982 with the National Prize for Plastic Arts, he solidified a constant presence in first-rate global exhibitions.
7. In 1992 he signed exclusively with the influential Marlborough Gallery, boosting his commercial and exhibition presence in New York.
8. He has protagonized major retrospective exhibitions in the most prestigious museums, such as the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, IVAM in Valencia and the MACBA in Barcelona.
9. Awarded in 2007 with the Velázquez Prize for Plastic Arts, the highest institutional distinction for the visual arts in Spain.
10. This milestone culminated in a retrospective exhibition curated by the artist himself at the Museo Reina Sofía (MNCARS).
11. His work is an indispensable part of major national museums, institutional collections, and international contemporary art foundations.
12. An extraordinary virtuoso of original graphic work, he masters lithography, etching and screen printing with an unmistakable visual inventiveness.
13. His personal dialectic between geometry, organic impulse, seriality and psychedelia positions him as an unclassifiable, cult creator.
14. A pivotal and essential piece for any international postwar and avant-garde art collection seeking solid historical grounding and assured value.
15. Acquiring Luis Gordillo on Catawiki represents an exceptional patrimonial bet endorsed by the highest museum recognitions.
