Description from the seller
An important work by the artist Franco Angeli, considered one of the leading figures of the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo. The work highlights the language of the artist's maturity, in which painting plays a more introspective role. The works of this period are permeated by an intimate and autobiographical dimension. Angeli, also marked by health problems, looks at his own life and the city of Rome as sites of emotional stratification. On the back we also find the signature of the art critic Livio Collina to attest to the provenance.
Collina has written important writings on Angeli's work, helping to interpret his later phase (the 1980s) in a more existential and less ideological key. He was close to the artist in the final period of his life, also accompanying its critical reception. A voice sensitive to transformation: he grasped the shift from the Italian Pop Art era to a painting that is darker, more introspective and marked by memory.
