Blue-and-White Grape-Leaf Conical Bowl - Porcelain - China - Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)
Description
A beautifully proportioned bowl of classic conical/douli form — flaring widely from a neatly raised foot to a broad, elegantly shaped rim edged in soft amber-brown. The exterior is freely and vigorously painted in rich, saturated cobalt-blue with an undulating band of sprawling grapevines: large lobed leaves interweave with curling tendrils and heavy clusters of fruit, all rendered with fluid, assured brushwork. The interior is simply and tastefully reserved — a clean white expanse centred on a medallion repeating the grape-and-leaf motif within a double-circle border, encircled by a pair of fine blue lines at the rim. A graceful, timeless form with abundant symbolism of fertility and plenty.
