Made in precious Italian Bordeaux-spotted resin and silver, the pen's design features a clip that reproduces one of the universal symbols of philosophy. The band on the cap – in silver – is engraved with Socrates’ profile on the front and the motto: "È sapiente solo chi sa di non sapere, non chi s'illude di sapere e ignora così perfino la sua stessa ignoranza" on the back.
At the top of the cap is set a coin depicting an owl, a symbol of philosophy and wisdom, considered such since Hegel in the nineteenth century.
