Beautiful antique Japanese bronze candle holder from the late Meiji period (late 19th / early 20th century).
This distinctive and highly decorative object is cast in bronze (tested: non-magnetic) and shows a detailed portrayal of traditional climbing figures (Karako) on a ladder and shaft, climbing upward toward the candle holder.
The bronze has over the decades developed a beautiful, authentic dark patina that gives extra depth to the details of the casting. A stunning collectible and an absolute eye-catcher in both a classic and modern interior.
