AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Giorgio Luxardo 1937–2019 was a Livorno-born painter characterized by a stylistic signature strongly conditioned by the macchiaoli painting. He has been part of since 1964 of the famous Gruppo Labronico founded by Gino Romiti in 1920 (the same master himself encouraged him to devote himself to painting) which gathered a number of post-macchiaioli artists active in the Livorno area. Among them we recall Renato Natali, who had a great influence on Giorgio Luxardo's artistic path.

He is among the promoters of the Premio città di Livorno, better known as Premio Rotonda, which since 1953 awards the best amateur artists and over the years has seen juries with artists of the caliber of Carlo Carrà.

Giorgio Luxardo has always shown a strong attachment to tradition in his painting, with a wise blend of light and color. He loved painting en plein air, representing on canvas and panel the views of the Tuscan coast and the Tuscan countryside. His oeuvre also includes still lifes and portraits.

Oil painting on panel signed at the bottom right and on the back as authenticity.

Painting dimensions 20x47 cm; the frame is considered a courtesy to the work and no complaints regarding the frame will be accepted.
