AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
We present the Collezione Marlen Sundial
The Sundial fountain pen modernizes an ancient time-measuring system: the sundial. The operating principle of this instrument derives from the different height of the sun above the horizon during the day and in the different months of the year. In this case, the sundial is the gnomen pin (gnomon holder), which rises perpendicularly and projects the shadow onto the pen barrel. The three dots correspond to three latitude points highlighted on the barrel. The barrel is coated in bright and satin silver, engraved with symbols representing the hours of the day, the zodiac signs, the calendar, arranged so as to determine the time in relation to the shadow cast by the gnomon. Sundial was also produced in a roller version. Both models have a cap in black resin with silver decorations. The top of the cap, in silver, is decorated with a traditional sun bas-relief image, while the upper ring bears the Marlen brand and the serial number. On the butt-end, another silver bas-relief disc shows the cardinal points with the compass rose.
