Pierre Boudet’s Paisaje Marino is an original signed lithograph (Épreuve d’Artiste) from 1960–1970, 44 × 46 cm, France, framed and in good condition.
Description from the seller
This lithograph is a delicate evocation of a French port, interpreted through the chromatic sensitivity and gestural freedom characteristic of the post-impressionist tradition. The composition presents a serene seascape where sailing boats rest moored beside a quay animated by small human figures that provide scale and vitality to the whole. On the left rise buildings of traditional architecture, resolved with synthetic brushstrokes and barely suggested outlines, while in the background masts, port structures and buildings blur into a luminous and airy atmosphere.
The palette is dominated by soft shades of blue, turquoise, pearl gray, and light ochers, which convey a sense of calm and maritime freshness. Boudet employs a spontaneous plastic language, with broad patches of color and a deliberate economy of detail, privileging visual impression and atmosphere over meticulous description. The reflections of the vessels on the water, traced with fluid, dark lines, introduce depth and dynamism, while the vertical masts structure the composition and balance the pictorial space.
As indicated by the handwritten inscription in the lower left margin, this is an **“Épreuve d’Artiste”**, that is, an artist’s proof, usually reserved for the creator or for a small circle of collaborators before the final edition. This feature adds special interest for collectors, as these prints are typically scarcer than the numbered ones intended for sale.
The work is presented in an elegant gold wood frame with a mat in a gray mauve tone, a combination that enhances the delicate nuances of the composition and provides a refined decorative presence. The ensemble reflects Pierre Boudet’s ability to capture the everyday poetry of French coastal landscapes through a luminous, lyrical, and deeply evocative interpretation of port life.
