Paul Hagemans (1884-1959) - Les accapareurs!

Paul Hagemans (Anvers, 1884 - Antwerp, 1959).
Belonging to the Belgian Impressionist School.

"Les accapareurs! Dépôts [...]ecrets de denrées alimentaires pendant la guerre.", 1915.
Hand-colored etching.
Hand-signed and dated. On heavy-weight cream paper.
Embossed seal on the reverse.

The artist depicts daily life in Belgium during World War I.

Sheet size: 32.5 x 47.5 cm.

Our cataloging: probably belongs to a UNIQUE portfolio of hand-colored etchings by the artist entitled "Paul Hagemans Watercolor Etchings: War Pendant." Some of these etchings are from his famous lithographic series "War Sketches Made in Brussels" (published unsigned). Our copy is not a lithograph, but an etching made by the artist and signed by hand. Perhaps an early version of some of the artist's own engravings that were ultimately unpublished. VERY RARE.

Very good condition. Please see photographs.
