Acrylic with textural material on heavy paper of the Fabriano type (Murillo)
Jo Novecento – Painter, Sculptor, Stylist, born in the Abruzzo region, Teramo, Italy in 1956
In the 1980s and 1990s he worked with figures from the Roman School of San Lorenzo, which stood in opposition to Transavant-garde. He was constantly involved in fashion as well, producing designs for tailored clothing for important houses. In those years he also dedicated himself to music, playing at events organized with the band Le Stelle di Schifano.
Existentialist artist, he studies and deepens the abstract expressionism of the first half of the 20th century; the support becomes a field of gestural yet measured action, vital in the explosion of the broad palette. The compositions diverge from academic classicism, are non-figurative, and make intimate, unmediated enjoyment possible. Ecstasy and tragedy are in balance.
