Montblanc Meisterstück 144 set in grey‑striate celluloid from 1950–1960, including fountain pen and matching propelling pencil with the original red‑black leather case and contemporary papers, the fountain pen features a 14K bi‑colour nib engraved “4810” and both pieces bear the identical “Troisdorfer Kunststoffe” factory engraving.
Description from the seller
This is a historical Montblanc Meisterstück 144 set in the rare “Grey Striated” (Grey Striated / Celluloid) edition, consisting of the fountain pen and the matching propulsive pencil, kept in the original red-black leather lockbox with contemporary accompanying papers.
Technical details & condition of the set:
Model fountain pen: Montblanc Meisterstück 144 (engraving “144” on the nib button clearly legible).
Material: Celluloid, grey-black-cream striped. The celluloid is in excellent condition, with no deep scratches, cracks, or discolorations.
Ink sight window: The blue-striped transparency of the ink tank is impeccably clear and neither discolored nor darkened.
Nib: Original two-tone 14-karat gold nib (14C) with the engraving “4810,” visually flawless and undistorted.
Special feature / Historical engraving (Unique Twin Twinset)
Both the fountain pen cap (on the cap) and the pencil barrel (on the body) bear the identical, perfectly preserved factory engraving “Troisdorfer Kunststoffe” (former celluloid supplier to Montblanc). This is an exceedingly rare historical corporate presentation set in absolute harmony. The pencil’s twisting mechanism is fully functional, and the original 1.18 mm lead feeds smoothly.
The set comes from a well-maintained condition and has always been stored away from light. Given the extreme rarity of the industrial marking in combination with the already sought-after grey-striped celluloid of this era, I expect a considerable collector’s value.
