Description:
"Asterion" - In the labyrinth of sound
This guitar is handcrafted entirely by Italian luthier Luca Nunzio Caira (artistic name Nunzio Kairòs), founder of the Kairòs Lutherie brand. Luca Nunzio is a visionary luthier who pushes the aesthetic and structural limits of the classical guitar through continuous experimentation and in-depth study, which he then translates into articles published monthly on his site.
A guitar of the highest luthery built entirely by hand, representing the current pinnacle of Luca Nunzio Caira’s aesthetic, constructive, and architectural experimentation.
Materials of Rare Excellence:
The soundboard is made from Master-grade Italian Alpine Spruce from the Val di Fiemme. The body presents a unique architectural pairing: the back is built in African Mahogany with an elegant central Padauk strip, while the ribs are in Mediterranean Cypress. The neck is carved in Cedrella with a comfortable D-shaped profile for an optimal biomechanical fulcrum.
Technical and Construction Details:
- Bridge: 12-hole, for an optimized string angle to maximize energy transfer to the soundboard.
- Nut width: 52 mm
- Scale length: 650 mm
- Frets (silver/nickel): 18%
- Rosette: Hand-carved Cypress.
- Nut and Saddle: Real bovine bone (Nut 52 mm)
- Top resonance: F# (Fa sharp).
Finishing:
The instrument has been varnished with gommalacca using the prestigious French polish method on the neck, sides, and back; for the soundboard, an oil finish was chosen to keep the wood as free as possible to vibrate and express its acoustic potential.
The Sonic Profile:
Despite its impressive physical lightness, the voice of the “Asterion” is authoritative and perfectly balanced. It dominates deep, rich, and characterful basses typical of a concert classical guitar. At the same time it attacks with explosive and bold responsiveness and with crystalline, penetrating treble tones characteristic of a pure flamenco “blanca” guitar.
In its essential minimalism, it is a unique instrument, meticulously designed for the demanding performer in study mode, requiring nuance, power, and absolute acoustic clarity.
