E. García - Lago turquesa XL

"Turquoise Lake" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García.

The work represents a terrace open to a vast landscape of turquoise waters, with a mountain range rising softly on the horizon. In the foreground, a small table set with a cup and a bottle, accompanied by an empty chair, introduces an intimate, everyday dimension within the expansiveness of the landscape.

The composition is framed by architecture in reddish tones and by abundant vegetation descending from the top. The white flowers and dark leaves function almost as a natural frame, guiding the gaze toward the intense blue-green of the water. The palette combines turquoises, blues, greens, reds, and ochres, creating a strong contrast between the freshness of the landscape and the warmth of the terrace.

The visible, spontaneous brushwork, along with the expressive use of color, links the work to the Post-Impressionist and Fauvist traditions of the Mediterranean landscape. The treatment of light and the simplification of forms also evoke modern painting’s interest in terraces, gardens, and windows open to the landscape.

"Turquoise Lake" conveys serenity, brightness, and a sense of pause. The empty chair and the prepared table suggest a suspended moment, inviting the viewer to symbolically occupy that place facing the water. A contemporary figurative work especially appealing to collectors of landscapes, Mediterranean scenes, interiors with views, and color painting.
