Excellent condition and masterfully carved Wiener meerschaum pipe - end of the 19th century - presumably unused or hardly smoked.
I’m not an expert, but I see no signs of smoking - with reservations!
Materials: meerschaum - honey-colored amber mouthpiece!
Depicted is a dog - presumably bulldog-pug - perched on graceful volutes/scrollwork
Such pipes were extremely popular collector and luxury objects in the Victorian era and around the turn of the century in Europe.
Additionally, there is also the intact original leather case, padded with velvet, preserved with a beautiful age-appropriate patina.
Pipe dimensions: approx. 10.5 x 3.5 x 2 cm.
Case dimensions: approx. 13 x 5 x 2.5 cm
