Description from the seller
Important and splendid original print (color aquatint and etching with strong relief) by master Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010), founding member of the famous avant-garde group CoBrA.
The sheet is part of the historic folder titled "1948", published in 1988 to celebrate the movement’s forty years. In this work the artist revisits the decompositions, the totemic figures, and the expressive force of his historic youthful drawings, infusing them with the chromatic richness of his maturity.
The print is marked in the lower left as E/A (Épreuve d'Artiste / Prova d'Artista), an exclusive and traditionally off-market edition reserved for the author.
- Pencil double dating: "1948" at the center of the sheet and "Corneille '88" at the bottom right.
- Artist's autograph in pencil at the bottom right.
- Conditions: Excellent conservation state, sheet never framed, vivid and saturated colors
