Description from the seller
Title: Vintage Fountain Pen - "Torpedo" Design in Striated Green Celluloid - Button-Filler - 30s/40s
Description: At auction an attractive vintage fountain pen from an unidentified European manufacturer, dating roughly from the 1930s to the 1940s. This piece is an excellent example of how European manufacturers adopted the revolutionary aerodynamic torpedo-shaped design popularized in the United States.
The main appeal of this piece is its material: a superb striated green and black celluloid, which creates a deep nacreous effect under light, emulating the coveted finishes of the era. The metal fittings consist of a smooth, classic-style clip and a wide end-cap band on the cap. Unlike American models, this fountain pen uses a button-filler system, classic of European manufacture, accessible by unscrewing the rear blind cap. It mounts a classic nib from the period with a Medium (M) stroke.
Condition:
The item is in very good vintage aesthetic condition. The green celluloid retains a deep shine, with no signs of crystallization, cracks, or deformations. The fittings show the usual patina of a piece over 80 years old. The rear blind cap unscrews smoothly. As it is an old pen with an ink sac, a service check and possible replacement of the sac is recommended to ensure optimal daily use. The piece is delivered loose.
