Condition Report
The painting presents overall conservative conditions that are discrete, compatible with its age and with the conservation history of the work.
The textile support has been relined in a later period, an intervention plausibly executed for consolidation purposes. The frame visible on the back also appears not contemporaneous with the original execution.
The painted surface shows widespread and pronounced craquelure, with irregular pattern, particularly evident in the flesh tones, the wings, and light areas. There are abrasions, wear of the pictorial film, small losses of material, as well as areas affected by previous conservation interventions and probable paint retouches.
Superficial deposits and a protective varnish that is altered and uneven are also observable, tending to darken the composition and to reduce the legibility of some color passages. Locally recognizable are old fills and additions.
Nevertheless, the pictorial film appears substantially stable, though it requires attention in correspondence with areas most affected by craquelure and lifting.
The gilded frame is of a later period and shows normal signs of use, abrasions, and small losses.
*** Photographic note
The photographs of the work were taken with the aid of professional studio lighting and spotlights to allow a better reading of the composition, details, and painting material. This lighting may cause slight variations in color perception and brightness compared to viewing the work directly. The photographs are for illustrative and documentary purposes only.
*** Note regarding the frame:
The frame is attached to the work as a courtesy gift and without assigning any monetary value. Given its age and natural fragility, any damage, detachment, breakage, or losses occurring during transport that pertain exclusively to the frame cannot be a basis for requests for refunds or compensation.
