AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Item Description
This is a Japanese three-tier jubako (stacked lacquered food box) with a lid. The square wooden body has a visible grain finished in a warm red-brown lacquer. The interior is finished in vermilion red. Each tier and the lid carry a flowing orchid design with gold-tone grasses, silver-tone blossoms and dark green leaves. The design continues across the tiers, so it reads as one composition when the box is stacked. The lid has a softly beveled edge, and the box sits on small feet.
The box has been photographed assembled, with the lid removed, and in close-up detail. It is suited to display or to storage of small items. It is also a decorative piece for lovers of Japanese lacquerware.
