Description from the seller
Lot: Trilogy Lützen and Bautzen / Napoleon at Leipzig / Napoleon at Dresden
Band 1: Lützen and Bautzen: Napoleon's Spring Campaign of 1813
• Inhalt: This volume covers the dramatic rebuilding of the French army after the Russian debacle and the spring campaign. It documents the first encounters with the Prussian–Russian forces, the bloody French victories at Lützen and Bautzen, as well as the smaller engagements and Cossack raids on the periphery. The book ends with the strategically consequential armistice of Pläswitz.
Band 2: Napoleon at Dresden: The Battles of August 1813
• Inhalt: After the end of the armistice, Austria also enters the war in the late summer. Nafziger analyzes in detail the Allies' changed approach (Trachenberg Plan) and the battles of August 1813. The volume highlights Napoleon's brilliant victory at the Battle of Dresden as well as the simultaneous, heavy defeats of his marshals on the peripheral theaters (Großbeeren, Katzbach, Hagelberg, Kulm and Dennewitz).
Band 3: Napoleon at Leipzig: The Battle of the Nations 1813
• Inhalt: The monumental finale of the trilogy is devoted to the Battle of Leipzig, the greatest mass battle in world history prior to World War I. Nafziger describes not only the days-long struggle around Leipzig, in which the Allied armies surrounded Napoleon, but also the subsequent retreat battles (such as the Battle of Hanau), the operations of Marshal Davout in the north, and the sieges of the fortresses remaining to the rear.
Each volume is a gold mine for historical data, packed with meticulously researched troop strengths, casualty lists and complete orders of battle (military formations).
Zustand: leichte Gebrauchsspuren am Einband, Innen: sauber und mit fester Bindung
