Oil on canvas landscape titled Water met roeiboten by the Dutch school (XX), dated 1940–1950, unsigned and in reasonable condition, sold with a frame; the artwork measures about 49 × 69 cm (70 × 89 cm including the frame).
Description from the seller
This painting depicts a quiet river landscape with two rowboats resting on the shore. The boats form the main focal point and clearly contrast with the greenish water through their dark brown and blue tones. In the background we see a flat landscape with reeds, trees, some farmhouses and a church tower in the distance. The artist has used mainly subdued colors, such as green, brown, gray and soft yellow, giving the whole scene a peaceful and natural atmosphere. The loose, visible brushstrokes give movement to the water and the sky, producing a lively rendering of the landscape. The large open space and the low horizon also create a lot of depth, guiding the eye naturally toward the village in the distance.
The work has some damage, see photos
Executed in oil on canvas.
Dimensions of the work approximately 49 × 69 cm; including the frame approximately 70 × 89 cm.
